Ruthi, age 11

 Ruthi recently celebrated her 11th birthday. In addition to being an older child, she has some learning and developmental delays. She has worked hard to improve her math skills and can add and subtract. Ruthi helps the other children with their math. Language is a challenge for Ruthi.  She expresses herself with simple words. She becomes sad when school work is hard. Ruthi can help with preparing meals and do other chores. She is a shy especially when going out in public. She is sweet girl who enjoys dancing.

Sean

 Sean recently turned 3 years old. His special need is exfoliating dermatitis (updated 8/20/13 11:19 am EST). He likes to learn new things and is very curious. He can express his needs and understands the use of common objects. He is learning colors and shapes. He can drink from a cup and will sit and eat at the table. When looking at picture books, he will ask the caregiver questions about what is happening in the book. He is active and can jump and go up and down stairs.

Henry

 

 Henry is a 5 ½ yr old boy who was been diagnosed with hypospadias. He enjoys playing football and basketball with other children. He likes to help younger children and will act as big brother protecting younger children on the playground. He helps with chores like making the bed and cleaning the room. He likes to sing songs and watch TV. He can count to 100, simple addition and subtraction, write his name and draw pictures. He can use chopsticks , recognizes colors and can tie his shoes.

William, EAC special focus individual referral

William is a 3 1/2 yr old boy who has been living with a foster family since he was a year old. His special needs is a skin condition called epidermolysis bollosa which effects his right knee, lower right leg and ankle. He can't eat spicy food or seafood because these foods make his skin condition worse. Some of William's favorite foods are fish, oranges and pears. His favorite snack is rice with jelly. He doesn't like shredded potatoes. William drinks out of a cup, stand on one foot for a few seconds, jump off the floor with both feet, turn pages of a book, recognizes colors, button and unbutton clothes, can identify body parts, uses words to express his needs, asks questions and is potty trained during the day. He's active and restless but he's shy and very quite around people he's unfamiliar with. He likes kicking balls, listening to music and watching children's tv shows. He likes playing games with kids and playing with cars.  When his leg hurts he will cry but his foster parents will distract him or coax him and he will calm down and feel better. He is closest to his foster mother and he enjoys playing outside with his foster parents.

Families wish to adopt a special focus child from China have 6 months to

complete the home study and submit the dossier to CCCWA.

CCCWA allows single women to adoption special focus children.

Zander EAC special focus individual referral

Zander is a 3 1/2 yr old bundle of energy who likes to play with cars and transformers. He can jump and go up and down stairs without help. He can draw lines and circles. He speaks sentences of 3-5 words and expressing his needs. He can build a tower of eight blocks and he likes reading picture books. Sometimes he's obstinate but he gets along well with others and has a ready smile. He can sing children's songs and recognizes animals in a book. Zander likes to play and talk with other children, even children that he's never met before. He's potty trained. He's active, clever and curious. When Zander entered the orphanage, his right arm and hand was not as strong as his left arm and hand. According to his medical report, Zander has a motion development delay with right upper limb but otherwise developing the same as other children.

         

EAC special focus individual referral: Steven

Steven will be turning 2 in May. His medical information is from when he was 9 months old. At 9 months he could roll over and hold his head up while lying on his stomach. He could hold toys, reach for toys and ring bells. His special needs are bilateral ear deformity and the corners of his mouth tend to the right side.

Meet Melissa, EAC special focus individual referral

Melissa likes to play with little toys and is curious, always asking "What is that?"

Melissa is a 4 years old girl who enjoys walks outside. She rarely has a cold or fever. She can walk up & down steps and jump. Melissa asks the caretaker for things and likes to play interactive games with adults. She is afraid of strangers. She listens carefully to what you say and giggles when happy. Melissa has a language development delay and was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy. Melissa has a good appetite and isn't a picky eater. She has a ready smile and is learning colors.
